Small Business Saturday was created to support small businesses during the busiest shopping weekend of the year. We Sell Mats is proud to be a part of the small business community! We are a family-owned, locally operated business near Charlotte, North Carolina. Here is the story of how we got started.
The Early Days
In 2006, Ken and Missy Richardson were raising young children when they discovered the need for safe, high-quality flooring. They found limited choices offered by retailers at the time. Starting out in their two-car garage and operating on a tight budget, Ken and Missy were determined to assist others facing the same predicament. After extensive research, they decided to purchase a substantial quantity of quality foam tiles at a low cost and extend the surplus to customers at exceptional value. With confidence in their endeavor, they took a risk and acquired a complete shipping container directly from a foam manufacturer.
Unprecedented Growth
The early stages of We Sell Mats consisted of selling foam tiles online, but the business (and their children) rapidly grew. Encouraged by their daughters’ passion for gymnastics, Ken and Missy expanded their product range to include protective flooring, gymnastics mats and skill training equipment.
Now, we operate out of a spacious warehouse spanning over 140,000 square feet. This allows We Sell Mats to maintain an extensive inventory of mats in various colors, sizes and thicknesses to cater to customers worldwide!

We Sell Mats is dedicated to delivering outstanding service, value and top-notch products for our customers. We strive to support our employees through financial stability, and a culture of appreciation for their contributions to our company’s overall success. We collaborate directly with manufacturers to ensure rigorous quality control and product safety. We are committed to our local community through charitable giving and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs by sharing our knowledge and expertise.
